The hotel’s name comes from its proximity to the famous Casina delle Civette, a structure dating back to the early 1900s, named for its splendid stained glass depicting two stylized owls among ivy, executed by Duilio Cambellotti in 1914. The owl theme in decorations and furniture, chosen by Prince Giovanni Torlonia, almost obsessively recurs, using the owl to emphasize the symbol of wisdom and ancient knowledge, honoring the Greek Goddess Athena, who was represented in this way in antiquity.
